Diversity and Inclusion Celebrations
LGBTQ+ History Month
The Quinnipiac community pauses each October to celebrate and observe Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer history.
LGBTQ+ History Month was first celebrated in the United States in 1994. October was selected to coincide with National Coming Out Day, which occurs annually on October 11. October 14 commemorates the first National March on Washington for Lesbian and Gay Rights in 1979. This celebratory month was originally known as Gay and Lesbian History Month, and additional identity acronyms were added over time to increase inclusivity of LGBTQ+ communities.
We hope that you will join us in our celebration.
