New Careers in Nursing (Hartford HealthCare) Admissions

We make our admission process as straightforward and personalized as possible. If you have any questions or need guidance, our counselors and advisers in the School of Nursing are available to assist you at every stage of your application process.

Admissions Requirements

Hartford HealthCare colleagues must have met all the following criteria to be eligible for the program. 

  • Be a colleague in good standing and not currently on a performance improvement plan or under any disciplinary action

  • Receive a minimum of “meets expectations” on the 2024 performance evaluation (if applicable)

  • Hold a bachelor’s degree in any major other than nursing from a regionally accredited college or university

    • Alternatively, have earned an associate degree or a minimum of 60 transferable credits towards a bachelor degree

  • Earn a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 (B)

  • Complete all required pre-requisite courses within the last 5 years with a grade of B- or better:

    • Microbiology with a lab (4 credits)

    • Anatomy & Physiology I with lab (4 credits)

    • Anatomy & Physiology II with lab (4 credits)

    • Statistics (3 credits)

    • Intro to Psychology (3 credits)

Interested students who are not current Hartford HealthCare colleagues may also apply to this program. Students will be conditionally admitted to the program and connected with Hartford HealthCare to explore employment opportunities. Acceptance into the academic program will remain conditional until the student has secured employment with Hartford HealthCare.

How to Apply

The deadline to apply for the Spring 2026 cohort is February 1, 2026. A maximum of 24 participants will be selected for this cohort of students. Please note that admission is competitive and that meeting the minimum admission standard does not guarantee admission.
