Quinnipiac University EMS is a student-run volunteer supplemental first responder agency. Members are certified Connecticut EMTs, and undergo regular training to keep their skills sharp. They formally began operations in the fall of 2019, providing EMS coverage for the Mount Carmel and York Hill campuses.
In addition to responding to medical emergencies on campus, QU EMS members volunteer their time providing CPR and Stop The Bleed classes for students, faculty, staff and the Hamden community. Aside from being an excellent opportunity for students to gain experience in healthcare, QU EMS is also a great opportunity for students to gain both leadership and teaching experience.
Quinnipiac University EMS hosted a Mass Casualty Simulation in partnership with the Towns of Hamden and North Haven.
The Mass Casualty Simulation brought together Quinnipiac students and first responders from the local community.
The hands-on scenario in a corner of the Mount Carmel Campus was strewn with volunteers enacting roles of victims and bystanders with realistic-looking injuries, wounds and psychological impacts.
Quinnipiac University EMS uses the "Simbulance," a specialized decommissioned ambulance, as a tool to help them be better prepared to treat patients in life-threatening situations.
A LIFE STAR helicopter landed at Quinnipiac as a part of the university's celebration of Wellness Week, in partnership with QU EMS and Hartford HealthCare’s Emergency Medical Services.
QU EMS has its own SUV that they use to respond to emergencies on the Mount Carmel and York Hill campuses, allowing them to carry more equipment that can be used in the event of an emergency.
QU EMS conducts CPR trainings for members of the Quinnipiac community, which teachs them basic CPR skills.
QU EMS hosts a "Stop the Bleed" lessons, which teaches students how to stop bleeding in emergency situations.

Open to students of all majors, QUIP-RS provides up to $5,000 in funding for undergraduate students to conduct research or complete creative projects alongside faculty mentors. This intensive 8-week program enables students to develop scholarly skills while encouraging discussion about successes and shortcomings with fellows and mentors.
