The Mount Carmel Campus, where undergraduates take the majority of their courses, features our biomechanics lab, athletic training facilities and many other spaces for them to gain hands-on learning early on in their academic journey.
The state-of-the-art Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences building on our North Haven Campus is equipped with some of the finest technology offered in academia, and emulates the fast, interdisciplinary team-based environments you’ll work in one day. The 325,000-square-foot facility includes two operating rooms, a model apartment, high-fidelity simulation suites, a diagnostic imaging suite with MRI, CT and ultrasound scanners, physical therapy, occupational therapy and motion analysis labs, and a Standardized Patient Assessment Center.
Undergraduate and graduate students alike can work in our student- and faculty-led clinics, which provide rehabilitation and other forms of care for patients who normally don’t have access to it. One of these clinics, the Lions Low Vision Center, offers free services and equipment for patients with vision impairments. Here, students get to apply their skills in a live environment while interacting with and treating a broad public.
These cutting-edge facilities include a motion analysis lab, a rehabilitative sciences lab, an intensive care unit, and a neonatal lab.
These interactive spaces enhance the school’s mission of interprofessional education.
Our model apartment is designed to teach students how to provide care in a residential setting.
You’ll be proud to make the Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences building the place you transition from student to confident health care professional. Every corner of the 325,000-square-foot facility was designed for collaborative and hands-on learning opportunities and features state-of-the-art equipment designed to take your learning to the next level. These include:
In keeping with the school’s mission of encouraging lifelong wellness — as well as a work-life balance — the North Haven Campus offers plenty of opportunities for recreation, including outdoor walking trails, a fitness center, and a yoga and meditation room.
Our students have the opportunity to work at some of the country’s most prestigious hospitals, health care organizations and research facilities. Our pathologists’ assistant program alone features one year of classroom learning followed by a clinical year at one of approximately 15 partnering institutions, which include the Mayo Clinic, UCLA, the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center and the Yale New Haven Hospital. Our athletic training students also have spent their summers doing a clinical rotation with some of the top college and professional athletic programs in the country.
Many of our other programs have dozens of clinical affiliations in Connecticut and the rest of the Northeast corridor. Students have recently been placed in the following medical centers:
Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston
Gaylord Hospital, Wallingford, Connecticut
Hartford Hospital, Hartford, Connecticut
Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, New York
Mount Sinai Beth Israel, New York
Reliant Medical Group, Worcester, Massachusetts
Several university institutes and centers offer dynamic opportunities for health science students to expand their impact, connect with their community and engage in global solidarity programs.
