MS in Special Education Admissions

We make our admission process as straightforward and personalized as possible. If you have any questions or need guidance, our counselors and advisers in the School of Education are available to assist you at every stage of your application process.

Admission Requirements

The ideal candidate will have earned a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and have an excellent record of teaching. Applicants also are required to demonstrate satisfactory writing skills through their personal essay.

Applicants seeking an MS in Special Education with the Comprehensive Special Education K-12 certification endorsement in the state of Connecticut (CT #165) must have access to a school and hold a valid initial teaching certificate.

Application Timeline

Applications are accepted throughout the year. The admissions committee will review an application once all of the supporting documents are received.

  • Application deadline for Fall start: August 5

  • Application deadline for Spring start: December 15

Required Documents

A complete application consists of the following:

  • Completed application form

  • $45 application fee

  • Updated resume

  • Letter of intent

  • One letter of recommendation (professional and/or academic)

  • Official transcripts of all undergraduate and graduate work completed

Interview: Once all admission materials have been received, eligible applicants will be invited for a formal interview.
