A Course in Global Perspective

Introduction to Doing Business in the European Union (IB 120) focuses on the fundamentals of business practice and business culture in Europe. The course introduces European business practices and principles in the context of the modern global economy. It includes topics of the European financial market, European regulation, European industrial structure, European political and economic systems and European history. The overarching objective of this course is to provide students with the basic but comprehensive skills and knowledge they need to get involved in international business with focus on the EU.

This course offers a distinctive blend of cutting-edge technology and cultural immersion, centered in one of the fastest-growing economies in the European Union. Poland, as a hub of innovation, is an ideal destination for students passionate about AI and tech.

Students will attend the Perspektywy Tech Summit, a large AI, tech and quantum computing event, and visit leading companies such as Intel and Dynatrace. Exclusive networking opportunities with startups and students at the Cambridge Innovation Center, Kozminski University, and CampusAI will provide insights into AI's growing influence in the European market.

Beyond the tech focus, the trip includes visits to Krakow's historical sites, such as the UNESCO recognized Wieliczka Salt Mine and Auschwitz – German concentration camp, offering critical context for understanding the societal impacts of technological advancements. In Gdansk, students will visit the historical birthplace of the Solidarity Movement – the very site where Communism was defeated.
