BA in Sociology Faculty and Staff
Our sociology professors are not just experts — they’re teachers who truly care about helping students grow. They get to know their students, guide them as they explore their interests and help them find research and career opportunities. In class, they create an energetic learning environment where students are encouraged to ask questions, challenge assumptions and connect what they learn to real-life issues.
A Community of Active Researchers
Because our professors are also active researchers, they bring fresh ideas and real data into their lessons. They study some of the most fascinating questions about how people live, believe and connect. Their research looks at how immigration affects identity and opportunity, how health and illness impact different groups, how gender, work and family shape our everyday lives and how religion influences communities. They also explore big ideas in social theory and investigate issues like mental health, culture and changing demographics. As a student in our major, you’ll get to try out different research methods, work with hands-on data, and learn how to make sense of the complicated social world around them. Together, our faculty show the difference it makes when teachers are both inspiring educators and researchers who are passionate about what they do.
