Our BA in History provides students with the historical context and framework they need to teach the next generation, advise government agencies, advance political and legal policies or guide companies into new eras. With an emphasis on critical thinking, analysis and research, our graduates enjoy measurable success in the job market and during graduate study.
Program Overview
History majors gain a broad understanding of past events alongside critical thinking skills and writing expertise, all of which prepare them for success in a variety of professional fields. While many graduates continue on to master's and doctoral programs in law and education, many others secure desirable roles as historians, museum curators, librarians and grant writers or devote themselves to specific causes like environmental studies and sustainability.
Through hands-on coursework and experiential learning, students explore specific periods in world history and consider how history influences other key disciplines like geography, politics, and sociology. Our program is flexible, with students enjoying the freedom to complete electives covering unique topics including piracy in the 18th century, witchcraft beliefs and superstitions and the complex history of medicine and healing.
