Laptop Recommendations

For Quinnipiac's Game Design and Development program, there are no specific computer requirements. Students may use either a Mac or PC.

Students are encouraged to bring a laptop to and from class. For those purchasing a PC, a VR-ready laptop is recommended where possible, as the minimum specifications required for virtual reality also provide strong performance for game development tasks.

Below are the minimum specs for a few of the tools the Game Design and Devleopment program uses:

As the above guidelines represent minimum recommendations, students may wish to invest in a more powerful system to ensure longevity throughout their studies. We recommend establishing your budget first when selecting a computer.

Students who prefer a Mac should aim to purchase the most capable system within their budget, with particular attention to graphics performance. Students who prefer a PC are encouraged to prioritize a dedicated discrete graphics card rather than integrated graphics, ensure sufficient memory (at least 8 GB of RAM), and then consider processor performance. Storage capacity should be selected last, with a solid-state drive (SSD) strongly recommended.
