The Kathleen Simione Women in Business Scholarship program helps women pursue undergraduate and graduate degrees in business that will further help to develop skills that are focused on enhancing characteristics associated with forward thinking leadership, conscious communication skills, authentic, ethical and honest self-reflection.

The mission of the M&T Bank Center for Women & Business is to provide opportunities for women and their allies to achieve their professional goals and build a community focused on achieving those goals consistent with their values. This community comprises women and their allies committed to lifelong learning as well as the external community, students, alumni, faculty and staff. Our Center is devoted to preparing our community for enlightened and engaged citizenship. The Center also facilitates connections and thereby builds and develops an engaged community where wisdom and experience are shared to educate, inspire and foster growth.

Eligibility

Women pursuing a business degree program at Quinnipiac University who demonstrate outstanding potential in the field are eligible.

Applicants must:

• Be enrolled full-time or part-time in at least the second year of an undergraduate degree program through the final year of a master's degree program when the application is submitted.

• Be in school when the scholarship funds are disbursed and must not graduate before December 2025.

• Have a minimum 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale).

• Identify as a woman.

• Demonstrate financial need (must have completed a FAFSA).

Previous Kathleen Simione Women in Business Scholarship recipients may not apply to renew the scholarship for a second year. The recipient of the award is required to actively represent the Center after receiving the award/

About Professor Kathleen Simione

Associate Professor Emerita

Professor Kathleen Simione is a champion for gender equality and inclusive excellence. Kathleen Simione earned her MBA from Quinnipiac University and a BS in accounting from Bentley University. She holds a registered CPA certificate in Connecticut and is an associate professor of accounting. Her primary teaching area is management accounting. Prior to entering academia, she worked in both public and private accounting. Her research has examined a variety of accounting and auditing issues, topics in business education, and the role of mentoring in the workplace and in student life. Her work has been published in the Journal of Accounting and Finance Research, Career Development International, the Journal of the Academy of Business Education, the Academy of Accounting and Financial Studies Journal, the Journal of the International Academy for Case Studies, the Business Studies Journal and the Journal of Applied Research in Higher Education. Simione is a Quinnipiac University 2011 Excellence in Teaching Award winner and a 2014 James Marshall Service award winner. She is a co-founder and was the director of the Center for Women & Business at Quinnipiac and is now the director emerita for the newly renamed M&T Bank Center for Women & Business.
