Professor of Health Science Studies

Dr. Susan Norkus is a Professor and serves as Chair of the Department of Health and Exercise Science. Dr. Norkus teaches in the undergraduate health science program and serves as a capstone mentor for the Doctor of Physical Therapy program. Dr. Norkus earned her Ph.D. in Health Sciences and Biomechanics from the University of Toledo, an MS in Kinesiology from Kansas State University, and her BS from Springfield College in Health Fitness and Athletic Training. Dr. Norkus also has a Masters degree in Instructional Design from QU with a Specialization in the Design and Development of Online Learning. Dr. Norkus strives to incorporate high-impact teaching practices into her classroom, as well as find ways to facilitate student learning and engagement in the clinical environment and transition to professional practice. Dr. Norkus is a 2019 recipient of QU's Center for Excellence in Teaching, Excellence in Teaching Award. Dr. Norkus was awarded the National Athletic Trainers' Association's (NATA) Most Distinguished Athletic Trainer Award in 2019, and the Athletic Trainer Service Award in 2013.
