Soumyashree Sahoo
Assistant Professor of Computer Science
Soumyashree Sahoo is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science in the School of Computing & Engineering at Quinnipiac University. She teaches courses in computer science and artificial intelligence, with an emphasis on applied learning and industry readiness. She is passionate about teaching and mentoring students, supporting their academic growth and career development.
Before joining Quinnipiac, Dr. Sahoo earned her Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Connecticut. She previously served as a faculty member at Three Rivers Community College and as an adjunct faculty member at Eastern Connecticut State University. During her Ph.D., she developed the DepWatch clinical portal, an AI-based decision-support system for UConn Health clinicians. Her research has been published in ACM Transactions on Intelligent Systems and Technology, ACM Transactions on Computing for Healthcare, and the IEEE/ACM Conference on Connected Health. She also serves as a reviewer for AAAI, ICMLA, and Computational Urban Science, and has been involved with CCSCNE. She is a recipient of the National Science Foundation (NSF) Student Travel Award and the UConn Predoctoral Award for Outstanding Scholarly and Research Accomplishments.
Dr. Sahoo's research focuses on machine learning and data-driven modeling, with expertise in multimodal and time-series data. Her work spans mental health, smart and connected health systems, and human behavior modeling, with an emphasis on interpretable and deployable AI.
