Professor Hartmann involves students, faculty, and community in the inclusion of people with disabilities in social, education, and work environments. She incorporates the use of assistive technology as a tool for people to use to circumvent their challenges and showcase their strengths. She works with an interprofessional with a team of faculty at the University to design learning experiences for students that practice the power of teamwork to improve the quality of care. Kim has received the James Marshall Award for Service and a Scholar Educator of the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Service at Quinnipiac University. In addition, she received the Connecticut Occupational Therapy Association award for community services and was elected a Fellow of the American Occupational Therapy Association for leadership in education and technology. In 2014, she was recognized for her work in interprofessional health care practice and was named a fellow of the National Academy of Practice and in 2015. In 2020, she was recognized by her peers through the Interprofessional Collaboration Award for Excellence in Interprofessional Education of Future Practitioners, by the American Occupational Therapy Association.
