Associate Professor of Physical Therapy

Dr. Katherine Grevelding is an Associate Professor of Physical Therapy and the Associate Program Director in the Department of Physical Therapy. She completed her BsEd in Sports Medicine/Athletic Training from the University of Virginia, her MSPT and DPT degrees from MGH Institute of Health Professions, and her EdD from the University of St. Augustine. Dr. Grevelding is a Board Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist, Emeritus, and a Licensed and Certified Athletic Trainer.

Dr. Grevelding is the primary instructor for the Human Anatomy I and II courses including Human cadaveric dissection labs. She also serves as a Capstone research mentor, and is involved in Musculoskeletal course labs. She focuses on making anatomy clinically meaningful as students build foundational knowledge for future clinical courses. Her ability to link clinical practice experience and expertise in teaching and learning, motivation theory, and self-efficacy with holistic patient care results in meaningful learning that endures. Dr. Grevelding is actively engaged in scholarship with focus on teaching and learning. Her research agenda blends educational theory with foundational clinical sciences and Interprofessional Collaborative Practice (IPCP). Current research includes assessment of foundational clinical sciences in physical therapy, advances in anatomy education, and IPCP for patient-centered care.

Dr. Grevelding was named the School of Health Sciences Interprofessional Education Fellow for 2020-2022. She has served as a Senator representing the School of Health Sciences on the Faculty Senate since 2021. She is actively involved in University, School, and PT Department committees. Dr. Grevelding is a member of the American Association for Anatomy [AAA], the American Physical Therapy Association's [APTA] Academy of Orthopaedic Physical Therapy [AOPT] and Academy of Physical Therapy Education [APTE], the Anatomy Education Special Interest Group, and the CT chapter of the APTA.
