Jennifer S Sacco

Jennifer Schenk Sacco, professor of political science and women's and gender studies and chair of the department of philosophy and political science, teaches American government and politics, with a focus on women and public policy, feminist theory, and political movements. Professor Sacco is a graduate of Denison University and earned her Ph.D. in political science and a graduate certificate in women's studies from Rutgers University, where she was awarded dissertation fellowships from the AAUW, the Dirksen Center for Congressional Research, and the Institute for Research on Women. Her research focus is on gender and American politics and questions of representation. She published her edited book “Women of the 2016 Election” in 2019, and has worked and published across disciplines, with scholars in mathematics, communication, journalism, and advertising. At Quinnipiac, she served as the director of the Women's and Gender Studies Program from 2010-2019. She facilitates the AAUW Start Smart salary negotiation workshop for women, and serves on the steering committee for the People's United Center for Women and Business. Prof. Sacco was appointed by the mayor and has served on the Economic Development Commission for the Town of Hamden since 2014, was elected to the Hamden Democratic Town Committee in 2020, and volunteers with Girl Scouts of CT. In 2016 she was awarded the “Outstanding Faculty Award” from the Student Government Association at Quinnipiac.
