Professor of Biomedical Sciences
Throughout her career, Dr. Chiasera has held numerous leadership positions in academia and participated in several prestigious leadership development programs, including the Harvard Management Development Program (2013), the Berkeley Executive Leadership Academy (2014), and the National Inclusive Excellence Academy (2018). In 2015, she was named a fellow of the American Council on Education, completing an immersive, year-long higher education administration fellowship under the mentorship of Dr. Jim Clements, President of Clemson University.
Dr. Chiasera's research and advocacy efforts focus on renal complications related to Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, leadership and administrative practices, and community health and wellness. Her doctoral dissertation examined the determinants of overweight and diabetes in U.S. children, while her master's thesis investigated the effects of aerobic exercise intervention on structural and functional changes in the kidneys of a rat model of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. in 2019, In recognition of her scholarly contributions, Dr. Chiasera was awarded the Joseph J. Kleiner Memorial Awardfor the best article published in Clinical Laboratory Science Journal.
