
Deokkyung Ock
Assistant Professor of Management
Dr. Deokkyung Ock is an Assistant Professor of Management at Quinnipiac University. He earned his Ph.D. in Sport and Entertainment Management from the University of South Carolina, and holds both a B.S. in Sport Science and an M.A. in Sport Management from Seoul National University, South Korea.
Dr. Ock's research explores how emerging technologies are transforming sport consumer experiences and business operations, with particular emphasis on digital consumption, esports consumer behavior, and sensory marketing in sport. His scholarly work has appeared in leading journals such as Journal of Brand Management, Event Management, International Journal of Sport Marketing and Sponsorship, and Sport Marketing Quarterly.
Prior to joining Quinnipiac University, Dr. Ock taught Sport Marketing and International Sport Management at the University of South Carolina, where he also served as a graduate assistant for courses including Quantitative Methods in Sport, The Business of Esports, and Venue Management. At Quinnipiac, he teaches Organizational Management and Skills for Contemporary Business Issues, and is contributing to the development of new courses in International Sport Business, Sport Marketing, and Digital Technology in Sport Business.
Dr. Ock is an active member of several professional associations, including the North American Society for Sport Management (NASSM), Sport Marketing Association (SMA), College Sport Research Institute (CSRI), Sport, Entertainment & Venues Tomorrow (SEVT), and the Korean American Association for Sport Management (KAASM). His involvement in these organizations reflects his commitment to advancing both academic research and professional practice in the sport and entertainment industries.
