Dr. Carol Awasu leverages her macro social work experienc, leadership and organizational practice to help local and global organizations utilize their assets to build capacity, access, resources, and care. Most recently, she was co-author of the social work compnent of the CT Health Horizon Grant Innovative project. The emphasis of this funded grant project was to address the critical shortage of especially Black/African American, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) licensed clinical social workers in the state. She also project lead and co-author of the Connecticut Health Horizon Grant for social work which was funded for 3 years. This grant focused on the education and workforce development and retention of social workers in CT. Dr. Awasu's scholarship reflects her interest in Caribbean women, Caribbean immigrants and families, and social work education.
