
Andrea Nicole Nicol
Clinical Assistant Professor of Diagnostic Imaging
Andrea Nicol is a Clinical Assitant Professor of Diagnostic Imaging at Quinnipiac University. She teaches courses within the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program. Andrea earned her Bachelor's Degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography from Quinnipiac University in 2017 before going on and obtaining her Master's Degree in Health Sciences and cardiac ultrasound license in 2019. She is currently purusing her doctorates in health science with a focus in educational leadership and research.
Andrea is a licensed sonographer in abdomen, obstetrics and gynecology, breast, vascular, adult cardiac and musculoskeletal ultrasound. She has been practicing these specialties by working clinically in the field of ultrasound for over eight years. Aside from her clinical practice, Andrea also is an active member in research and global health organizations.
She practices these specialties at a variety of hospitals and clinical settings throughout Connecticut. She spends most of her time either as a cardiac sonographer at Yale New Haven Hospital or as a diagnostic medical sonographer at Waterbury Hospital working closely with students, nurses, physicians, and other medical personnel.
She is a member of the research organization ITEACH where she participates in research projects and most recently traveled to Indonesia to screen for rheumatic heart disease in children and Colombia, South America, to study the effects of pulmonary hypertension in high altitudes. She has participated in a plethora of POCUS workshops as well as given presentations on a variety of educational and research topics within the ultrasound profession both domestically and internationally. Andrea is a fellow of the American Society of Echocardiology and active volunteer for ARDMS and NESE.
