Tom Torello

Teaching Professor of Biology

Dr. Torello is currently a Teaching Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at Quinnipiac University. He was raised in Guilford, CT. He completed his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry at Ithaca College and PhD in Biochemistry in the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology at Harvard University, where he worked in Catherine Dulac's laboratory on the molecular basis of pheromone detection in mammals. He served as a preceptor, lecturer, and undergraduate academic advisor at Harvard from 2003-2015, and since joining the faculty at Quinnipiac, has taught a range of courses including First Year Seminar and capstone, laboratory courses for non-majors, undergraduate genetics, and for the graduate MCB program, molecular genetics and DNA methods laboratory. As a fellow with the Collaborative for Interdisciplinary/Integrative Studies, he helped implement the 360 academic and career advising model, and remains engaged in that work. He also serves as the Advising and Registration Coordinator for the Department of Biological Sciences.
