Get DirectionsOur panelists will discuss how they've navigated their varied roles in the industry and share their unique journeys, challenges and triumphs. The event will offer valuable insights into the evolving landscape of sport while considering how gender intersects with our understanding of the role of sport in humanitarian efforts, media, athlete empowerment and other exciting, challenging topics.
Batouly Camara, a native New Yorker with deep family roots in Guinea, West Africa, is a BIPOC and Muslim humanitarian and the driving force behind Women and Kids Empowerment (W.A.K.E), a non-profit organization committed to promoting women's empowerment, women's sports, education and social entrepreneurship globally. She is also a PhD Candidate at UMass Amherst's Sport Inclusion program, demonstrating her commitment to making a positive impact in the world of sports and education.
Nicole Gartner (MS ‘16) is currently at Yahoo Sports working in business development and revenue strategy across product, content and partnerships. With close to 10 years experience in the sport media industry, her other roles at ESPN, Maxx Sports and Yahoo have spanned social media, YouTube, sponsorship, talent representation and monetization. She continues to root for the New York Giants even though they continue to break her heart.
Ajhanai “AJ” Keaton, PhD studies how race and gender (in)equity shape organizational behavior, media discourses in the sporting realm and the influence of social politics upon organizational behavior as an Assistant Professor at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Along with her extensive research record, Keaton is an executive board member of DIECE (Diversity, Inclusion and Equity Council of Excellence), and a member of the Wasserman Collective Think Tank.
Nicole Matuska is the U.S. Director at Women Win, a multidimensional women's fund that, through the GRLS initiative, advances girls and women's rights in and through sport. She currently leads key strategic fundraising initiatives and oversees a global innovation portfolio. Her love for sport started early, as she traces it back to the first time she flew over a homemade ramp on her bike and her first soccer team, the Lady Bugs.
