Undergraduate Admissions
We welcome students from all over the world and we are excited that you are considering Quinnipiac University as the place for your academic and cultural experiences. While the admissions process may seem overwhelming, your admissions counselor is committed to making your transition to life at Quinnipiac as easy and straightforward as possible.
As part of our decision for admission, we review:
English is the primary language of instruction at Quinnipiac. You must understand English and express yourself clearly in speech and writing. Students whose native language is not English must submit their scores for Quinnipiac’s preferred English proficiency tests.
Acceptable standardized tests to demonstrate English proficiency include:
IELTS (International English Language Test System)* — minimum score: 6.5
TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language)* — minimum score: 550 (pBT)/85 (iBT)
DUOLINGO — minimum score: 105
PTE – minimum score: 57
SAT (administered by The College Board)
ACT (American College Testing)
Cambridge B2 First, C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency* — minimum score: 176
Completed at least 2 years at a U.S High school, or British (Cambridge), American or IB curriculum.
*Preferred
Students who have studied entirely in English throughout secondary school may qualify to receive a waiver for the English proficiency requirement, although we still highly recommend that you submit an English test score. All requests may be made by contacting the Office of International Admissions by email ISA@qu.edu. Requests should provide evidence as to why the English proficiency requirement should be waived and will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Quinnipiac is “test optional” for most programs but we encourage you to share your SAT and/or ACT scores with us, if you wish to do so.
All students who wish to receive academic credit for coursework taken at a foreign university must submit a translated credit-evaluation in English from any of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services® (NACES) members or the Association of International Credential Evaluators® (AICE). Preferred vendors are listed below:
You must submit a bank letter to expedite the issuance of the Form I-20 for your student visa. The Form I-20 is issued by Quinnipiac and required by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) for you to acquire your student visa (F-1). The Form I-20 is issued to admitted students after they have demonstrated sufficient funding by submitting the Certification of Finances Form and a supporting bank letter. The Certification of Finances form will be used to enter your information into the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) SEVIS system. It is acceptable to scan and email all forms.
