What to Pack

Living in Quinnipiac housing means you'll have all the resources you need to be successful.

You will be welcomed by our helpful team of students, who will help move all your belongings into your new room on your first day.

We've prepared a list of what you will need to pack to make your space your home, as well as important dates regarding move-in and hall closings.

Academic Coaches Share Advice About Moving To Quinnipiac

  • Homesickness can hit at any time, sometimes even late in the semester. Make a plan for what you will do when you are missing home. Go for a walk, call someone from home, watch a funny movie, or plan a visit.

  • Put down your phone and talk to people. Even if it feels uncomfortable.

  • Find a way to get involved on campus to form your new community.

  • It can take some time to find your people. Put yourself out there, join a club that interests you, and step out of your room often. Attend campus events and the involvement fair.

  • Create a calendar system to keep track of your schedule, due dates and appointments. Set reminders on your phone. Part of leaving home and gaining independence is taking charge of your daily tasks and schedule. This habit will help you develop a routine once you get to campus.

  • Think about what is important to you (academics, friends, hobbies, etc.) and work with your academic coach to plan how you will accomplish these things. This will help you adjust better and feel fulfilled.

  • Move out of your comfort zone. Ask people to go to dinner, hike Sleeping Giant, walk around campus, go to the bookstore, etc. And consider saying "yes" when someone asks you to join them, even if you don't really want to. You might make a new friend.

  • It's OK to ask for help.

  • Try your best to create a consistent morning/evening routine.

  • You are not alone.

  • You will make friends throughout your time in college, not just in the first few weeks.

  • Have a scheduled time to touch base with loved ones. This helps you stay connected while also having dedicated time to grow and form connections on campus.

  • Create anchors. For example, routine and consistency can be an anchor when so much around you is new or changing. Something as simple as how you take care of yourself (getting dressed in the morning, committing to a habit like breakfast in the dining hall or going to the gym, making your bed, getting in touch with someone in your circle, etc.) can be a powerful tool to anchor you and help create a system for the life you live.

Mark Your Calendars For Move-In

Keep track of all the important dates for residence hall openings and closings during breaks, as well as schedules for move-in and move-out for the academic year.

All students will receive a link to sign up for a move-in time slot on their designated move-in day.

Avoid Move-In Day Delays and Upload Your ID Photo Today

As you prepare for move-in, please remember to upload your photo for your QCard as soon as possible. This is an important step to ensure a smooth check-in process when you arrive.

Students who do not upload their photo in advance will experience delays during move-in. Your QCard grants you access to your residence hall, meal plan, and other essential campus services.

We’re looking forward to welcoming you to campus.

Course Registration is Now Open

Having Issues

For our Q-Start training modules (Sexual Misconduct and Drug/Alcohol) that you’re having issues, please contact the listed points of contact with your Quinnipiac email address and include your QCard number.

Please allow at least 48 hours for your Q-Start Item(s) to show complete due to data coming to Quinnipiac via our third-party vendor. If you complete the training, there’s no need to go back and retake it.

Introducing Common Hour

To help you more easily attend key academic and student experience events at the university, we are excited to introduce a weekly Common Hour this fall!

Held every Tuesday and Thursday from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. on our Mount Carmel Campus, this dedicated time — free from scheduled Mount Carmel classes — is designed to foster community engagement, interdisciplinary collaboration and meaningful student support.

We are confident that it will enrich our academic environment and strengthen connections across campus.

One of the primary reasons we established Common Hour was to better engage commuter students and accommodate their schedules, enabling more commuter students to be more engaged on campus.

The first event on Tuesday, August 26, has intentionally been aligned with a showcase of the South Quad; this new space has enabled the integration of a common time into the Mount Carmel academic schedule.

This will be the official community celebration of the South Quad opening, with opportunity to tour the facilities. All students, faculty and staff are encouraged to attend as we welcome you and celebrate the start of a new academic year together!

Proxy Access

Students may authorize a proxy to have access to Self-Service to make payments on behalf of the student or to view grades. In addition, authorizing a proxy also allows the appropriate Quinnipiac faculty and staff to discuss relevant matters with the proxy. The student may authorize a proxy to all or a subset of the following:

  • Student finance information

  • Financial aid information

  • Academics (final grades)

  • Tax information

  • Notifications (receive email notifications on the above)

Having trouble getting proxy access? View the Self-Service Student Finance Guide for step-by-step instructions on how to authorize a proxy, make an online payment, sign up for a payment plan and more.

Reminder: Fall 2025 Payment Due

  • Select "Dining" and then select "Dining Plans"

  • If you have an owing balance, please make a payment.

  • If you are due a refund, please know that refunds are processed approximately two weeks after the start of the semester. The fastest way to get a refund is to sign up for direct deposit.

Parking Information

First-year residential students are not permitted to bring a car to the university.

First-year commuter students will be able to request a parking permit in mid-August. An email will be sent when the permits are available.

College Break Bus Service Available

The service is available for Thanksgiving and Spring Break.

College Break Bus offers round-trip or one-way rides to locations in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey and New York during Thanksgiving and Spring breaks. Buses offer free WiFi, live GPS tracking, an onboard restroom and space for luggage. Rides are for college students only. The on-campus pickup location is North Lot, outside the RecWell Center. Learn more and book your ride

Please note: If the subscription for the bus doesn’t meet costs, it will be canceled.

Financial Aid

Students who have accepted their financial aid offer on Self-Service will see their aid reflected on their student invoice.

Recently accepted federal student loans will appear on the student’s invoice once the approved loan is returned by the Department of Education for processing (this is generally a 48-hour process). First-time federal student loan borrowers are required to complete Loan Entrance Counseling and a Master Promissory Note before the loan funds can be applied against the student account. Please refer to the Financial Aid tab on Self-Service for instructions to complete the requirements.

The invoice will reflect recent applications for a private student loan or Federal Direct PLUS Loan once the Financial Aid Office certifies the loan for payment. Please allow up to two weeks for the loan to appear against the invoice. Students who are planning to apply for a private student loan, or parents who are planning to apply for a Federal Direct PLUS Loan, should apply for the loan in a timely manner to allow for ample time for the loan to apply against the charges in time for the payment due date.

Information regarding private and parent loan borrowing is available at QU.edu/finaid

Outside scholarships will not be reflected on the invoice until received. Please let both onestop@qu.edu and finaid@qu.edu know about any expected outside scholarships as soon as possible.

Academic Coach Meetings

If you have decided to meet with your academic coach this summer, your meeting has been scheduled. You will receive communication about your appointment date and time. If you are unable to attend, please notify your coach before your scheduled meeting.

At this point in the summer, important communications will be coming to your Quinnipiac email. Remember: keep track of your Quinnipiac email and calendar, and respond to communications from your coach.

Things parents and guardians should consider talking with your student about:

  • Will you be setting up proxy access and for whom?

    • This is what will provide you with access to view your student's midterm/final grades as well as discuss finances.

  • Have you updated your contact information?

    • Your student should do this so that we can connect with them. (Preferred name, cell phone, emergency contact)

  • How do you plan to utilize academic resources in the Learning Commons?

    • Discuss working with an academic coach and utilizing tutoring resources early and often.

  • If needed: Have you submitted your accommodation information?

    • You may need to gather documentation from your high school.

  • How will we talk about school this fall?

    • Sharing positive news as well as when things may not have gone as planned. Schedule check-ins with each other.
