Parents and Families Update: August 2025
Welcome Home, Bobcats!
August 19, 2025
August 19, 2025
Dear parents and family members of the Quinnipiac student body,
Welcome to Quinnipiac! Whether your student is joining us for the first time or returning for another year, we are thrilled to have them as part of our community. Our new president, Marie Hardin, is also settling in for her first year, and she is ready to assist our future Bobcats during move-in and throughout the year. For some, this will be their final year, and we are excited to support them as they reach this milestone.
The university continues to undergo significant physical upgrades.
The two new academic buildings, the School of Business and the SITE, opened this past week and are ready for the start of the semester. These buildings will foster greater community connections, student learning and state-of-the-art technology. Make sure to stop in next time you are on our Mount Carmel Campus.
As I mentioned to incoming parents, we are here to assist your student and encourage them to get involved in clubs and organizations, attend athletic events and provide service to our community in Hamden and North Haven.
I am happy to announce that we are launching Common Hour this fall, a campus-wide (Mount Carmel Campus) shared engagement created to enrich our academic environment and strengthen connections across campus. Held every Tuesday and Thursday from 12:30-1:45 p.m., the time is designed to foster community engagement, interdisciplinary collaboration, and meaningful student support. We see this time especially helpful for our commuter students, providing a common time ALL students will be free to engage in events.
Another way we are making it easier for students to engage is our new events calendar, at calendar.qu.edu. You can now subscribe to events by school, club, organization and even key university initiatives like Common Hour.
Visit the calendar at calendar.qu.edu to see all events, including Career Engagement Fairs, Advising Week, Spirit Week, storytelling, panels and performances. Students who engage in these activities often find a sense of belonging and success in college. This year’s engagement fair is scheduled for August 28 from 12-2 p.m. on the Quad; please encourage your student to attend.
We offer numerous student employment opportunities on campus, including positions with the university or our food partner, Chartwells, which employed more than 150 students last year. Additionally, our healthcare partner, Hartford HealthCare, provides part-time positions at their hospitals, clinics and other operations. Our career services office is here to assist in this process.
We continue to embrace the “co-creation” model at our institution.
Shake Smart in our RecWell facility, is operated by students for students, and has been a wonderful addition to our dining plan and well received by our students.
New this year will be our School of Business Café, also operated by students for students and part of our dining plan, we are excited to offer another option for students to grab their iced coffees in the morning. We are going into our third year of “menu makers” over at Café Q. These students select daily dinner menu options and track the popularity of entrée options, ensuring the variety and satisfaction increase over time. If your student has any questions or suggestions, please have them email menumakers@qu.edu.
We will continue to offer our Parent Academy sessions this fall. These Zoom sessions focus on specific areas of the student experience. The first one is scheduled for the second week of September, check your email later this month for your invitation.
Finally, communication is key to building a trusting relationship with parents and family members. If you have any questions or feedback, please feel free to email us at QUParents@qu.edu. Your feedback is important to us. Thank you for being such great partners in supporting your student’s success at Quinnipiac.
We look forward to welcoming your student to campus soon.
Sincerely,
Tom Ellett
Chief Experience Officer

Learn more about dining on campus and view instructions on how to change a meal plan on the dining pages of our website. Step-by-step instructions for how to change your meal plan can be found under the Dining FAQ: "Can I change or update my dining plan?" All meal plan changes must be made by the last day of the add/drop registration period which is Friday, August 29 for undergraduate and graduate students.
We hope this message finds you well. As we continue to enhance our campus services, we would like to inform you of some important protocols regarding package deliveries. Please read the following guidelines carefully to ensure smooth and efficient handling of your mail and packages:
Unified Address for All Deliveries: All mail and packages should be addressed to 275 Mount Carmel Avenue, Hamden, regardless of your office, residence hall, or housing location. Please do not use 305 Sherman Avenue for mail or package deliveries.
Use Your Official Name: Ensure that the name on your mail or packages matches the name you used with Admissions at the time of your application. Unless you have updated your name with the Registrar’s Office, this is the only name Mail Services recognizes. Avoid using nicknames, screen names or pet names.
Include Your Mail Services Code (MSC): Always include your uniquely assigned Mail Services Code (MSC) on each envelope and package. This code helps us accurately identify the recipient, especially for students with similar names.
Plan for Weekends and Holidays: Mail Services is closed on weekends and university holidays. Please plan your deliveries accordingly, as locating packages delivered during these times can be challenging if they are not delivered to Mail Services on the Mount Carmel campus.
Official Receiving Location: The Mail Services office on the Mount Carmel campus is the designated receiving location for all mail and packages. The locker locations in the student centers are not equipped or staffed to handle deliveries, particularly outside their operating hours.
Prompt Package Pickup: Please heed Mail Services delivery notifications and pick up your mail and packages promptly to avoid any inconvenience.
Third-party delivery companies: We strongly encourage you to use companies that have trusted experience and knowledge of Quinnipiac delivery protocols (FedEx, UPS, USPS, DHL, OnTrac and Amazon). Others have not been successful in following our hours of operation and location for mail delivery. This could lead to loss of a package.
Students should not meet drivers for pick-ups: There have been cases where delivery drivers have not been consistent in their delivery of packages. Avoid non-insured companies that cannot be verified for delivery. Additionally, these companies are not allowed on campus for deliveries.
Thank you for your attention to these guidelines. By following these protocols, you will help ensure that all deliveries are handled efficiently and securely. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Mail Services.
The Office of International Students and Scholars is excited to welcome new international students to the Bobcat family! Move-in for new international students was Monday, August 18 and the International Student Orientation, mandatory for F-1 and J-1 visa holders, is on Tuesday, August 19 and Wednesday, August 20. Students and families can view the full details on the OISS MyQ page for New International Students
Upon arrival in the US, all new F-1 and J-1 students must complete Immigration Check-In so their SEVIS immigration record can be activated by OISS. Detailed instructions can be found on the OISS website
The OISS supports new and returning international students with their cultural adjustment and navigating processes such as opening a US bank account, getting a CT driver’s license, and much more. The OISS website at international.qu.edu and the Welcome Guide for International Students have lots of helpful information.
OISS provides a US SIM card with one month free for all international students. Learn more at campusSIMs.com
In addition to a SIM card, all new students receive a welcome bag and welcome folder with helpful resources and items to make their arrival more comfortable.
Students and families can review the international website at international.qu.edu for helpful information and upcoming events. New and continuing students can access their immigration documents and requests in the ISS Portal.
You can reach us by email at oiss@qu.edu or visit our office in the Arnold Bernhard Library 122S, across from One Stop. You can also follow us on Instagram at @qu.oiss and @quglobalpartners.
The Office of Global Engagement will be hosting Study Abroad information session(s)
It’s the perfect chance to discover the incredible opportunities available to spend a semester and/or a short-term program—immersed in another culture and making unforgettable memories.
During your time at Quinnipiac the Office of Community Engagement encourages all students to find ways to learn about and learn from the surrounding communities through a variety of means. One of those ways in engaging in service, advocacy or philanthropy work to meet the needs of others or to improve the standard of living for all people. The Office offers a variety of programming throughout the course of the year and our upcoming events are:
Monday, September 8 at 4:15 p.m. Reflective Hike to Yoga on Sleeping Giant

The Office is also currently recruiting for open work study positions with local non-profits and schools. These para-professional positions offer an incredibly opportunity for students to build their resume and develop professional references.
Are you planning to secure an educational loan to finance the balance due on your student’s invoice?
Please refer to the financial aid loans webpage for borrowing options and more detailed information.
Many students use outside scholarships as a resource to help with funding their education. We encourage all students to research outside scholarship opportunities. Learn more about searching for scholarships.
For any questions or to speak with a financial aid counselor, please call 203-582-8750 or visit the Financial Aid Office in the Echlin Center. Counselors are available Monday – Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
The One Stop office is eagerly anticipating the return of our students this fall. We have several important reminders for all students and their proxies.
All students registered for the fall term should see their charges in Self-Service. If you have not already, please ensure that your balance is covered. The Resolve a Balance Due page of our website can assist with this task.
Please ensure that all past due balances are covered prior to move-in. This will allow for a smooth transition on move-in day.
Questions about your bill? Contact One Stop
Undergraduate full-time students who have less than 12 credits should ensure they are fully registered or submit the Change of Status Form to switch from a full-time to part-time student. We highly recommend that you contact Financial Aid to understand the implications of this change prior to making the request.
Undergraduate part-time students who have full-time courseloads will have their status switched to full-time after the end of the add/drop registration period. This may result in a change to your invoice.
We encourage all students to check their accounts in Self-Service once a month.
If any students are due refunds, these will be processed after the add/drop registration period.
Visit the One Stop page for hours

Email is the best way to reach us. Please allow 1–2 business days for a response, and we look forward to assisting you. Email us at onestop@qu.edu
We receive a large volume of correspondence and it may take us one to two days to respond to your request. Email (onestop@qu.edu) remains the most efficient way to reach our office. We kindly ask you not to send multiple messages or leave multiple voicemails within a couple of days. Our correspondence gets distributed among the team and multiple correspondence often ends in multiple members of our team doing the same research and responding multiple times and thus makes our queues longer. In the unlikely event that your original correspondence is not replied to within three business days, we apologize and encourage you to please contact us again.
If you plan to bring a vehicle to any of our campuses (Mount Carmel, North Haven, and York Hill), please note the following important information:
All drivers are required to review the Quinnipiac University Parking Rules and Regulations prior to parking on campus.
The MyParking application is now open for permit registration.
Permits will not be issued to students with unpaid parking tickets. We strongly encourage you to log in to MyParking to review and pay any outstanding fines.
Residential first-year students are not permitted to have or operate vehicles on campus at any time.
Per the Quinnipiac University Rules and Regulations each permit allows parking in certain designated lots. Please find the list of available lots under Parking Permit Classifications and Locations on our website.
Campus maps will help to identify the lots for which the permit entitles the driver to park.
Decals are printed on a rolling basis.
Undergraduate Students:
Undergraduate residential and commuter students will pick up their permits from One Stop Office. Visit the One Stop page for hours. We will have coverage over Welcome Weekend.
When decals are printed and ready for pick up, emails will be sent to the student’s Quinnipiac email account with instructions for pick-up.
A valid Quinnipiac ID must be presented by the student to pick up the decal.
Graduate students will have their decal mailed to the address on file in MyParking.
If you have questions or require assistance, please reach out to parking@qu.edu, the One Stop Office or visit the Parking website.
Due to high email and call volume at this time of year, please allow ample time for a response.
Any questions, please reach out to One Stop Auxiliary Services at parking@qu.edu. Learn more on the parking page of our website.
An overview of the shuttle schedule can be found on the Quinnipiac shuttle page.
The College Break Bus service will be running in the 2025-2026 academic year for Thanksgiving and Spring breaks. Learn more about College Break Bus Service
Our shuttles are here to provide constant, reliable transportation to our students. As with any commute, students should allow themselves ample time to travel to their destination. Students are encouraged to download the Passio GO! app for live mapping of the shuttles.
If your student is experiencing any concerns or issues with the shuttles, please email us at qushuttles@qu.edu.
