Throughout the coming weeks, approximately 120 sophomores will move into the Bakke, Founders and Sahlin residence halls, each with a different color-based theme consisting of dark blue, green and light blue respectively — on the inside and outside of each area.
“Based on student feedback, we worked carefully to design spaces that are both functional as well as visually appealing,” said Mark DeVilbiss, director of residential life.
Each of the 30 suites includes a new, full-sized refrigerator, microwave and stove — along with a pantry. There’s also a new center island with stools in each kitchen area, as well as a couch and pair of chairs in each common area. Additional handicap-accessible suites were also constructed.
Last summer, the university completed renovations to the Larson, Troupe and Perlroth residence halls. Construction continues on the university’s new Recreation and Wellness Center, which is scheduled to open next fall.
