Here are a few ways members of our community can give back:
Thanksgiving Donation Drive: The three School of Law law journals — Quinnipiac Law Review, Quinnipiac Health Law Journal and Quinnipiac Probate Law Journal — are organizing a drive for the City of New Haven’s Y.A.R.D. program which supplies more than 100 turkeys to families in need. Students have raised more than $2,000 so far and are looking for further support. Contact the respective law journals for details on how you can contribute.
Chi Omega Holiday Drive: Chi Omega is having a food and toy holiday drive for the Keefe Community Center on November 28, November 29, December 1 and December 2 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in SC-220. Chi Omega members will be collecting non-perishable goods and toys for area families in need. Email Kaitlyn Cestaro with questions.
Shelter Donation Drive: The Mock Trial Society is collecting items to donate to Life Haven Shelter in New Haven. Email George Morgan with questions.
Toy and Clothing Drive: The Nursing LLC and Tau Rho, Quinnipiac's School of Nursing's honor society, will host a toy and clothing drive for students at Church Street Elementary School in Hamden. The organizations will begin collecting on November 28 in the North Haven Campus lobby. Email Professor Margaret Gray with questions.
Holiday Cards for the Elderly: Community Action Project's Elderly Branch will create custom holiday cards for the North Haven Senior Center on November 29, from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. in TH-305. Email Abagail Wendehack with questions.
Hamden Senior Gift Run: The Hamden Senior Gift Run is a result of the collaboration between Quinnipiac, Hamden Chamber’s Health & Wellness Council and the Town of Hamden Elderly Services. Each year students collect useful gifts for 100 local senior citizens. Items such as hand lotions, hand sanitizer, tissue packs, gloves, scarves, puzzle books, instant soup, and much more are collected. Seniors then attend a holiday-themed luncheon where they receive a large bag full of gifts. For many, this is the only holiday gift they will receive. There is a donation box in the Alumni House entry that will be accepting donations through December 1. Email Karla Natale with questions.
