"On behalf of the entire Quinnipiac Netter community, we are excited to welcome Dr. Ellen Pearlman as our new senior associate dean for education,” said Dr. Phillip Boiselle, dean of the Frank H. Netter MD School of Medicine at Quinnipiac. “Dr. Pearlman is an accomplished educator and administrator, bringing over two decades of leadership experience in medical education across the continuum of undergraduate medical education (UME) and graduate medical education (GME) to this role."
In her role at Quinnipiac, she will develop and nurture the next generation of humanistic physicians by leading and shaping an innovative educational curriculum that meets the evolving needs of healthcare delivery.
She will be responsible for oversight of all medical education programs, inclusive of undergraduate medical education and graduate medical education programs. She will oversee a leadership team to create a learning environment focused on academic excellence, professionalism, inclusion and teamwork that fosters successful outcomes for our learners along the undergraduate medical education and graduate medical education continuum.
She will provide the vision for Quinnipiac Netter’s educational strategic initiatives. She will work with leaders across the school to continually improve the quality of all medical education programs while ensuring compliance with accreditation standards. Working directly with the dean and other members of the senior leadership team, she will play a critical role overseeing and executing the school’s strategic activities.
For the past 12 years, she has served in a variety of leadership roles at the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra University, including associate dean for the advanced clinical experience and associate dean for professionalism and doctoring skills, while also serving as a career adviser for the surgical subspecialties and a co-adviser for the school’s chapter of the Gold Humanism Honor Society.
During her time at Zucker, she also co-created and successfully launched the faculty development program for mentoring and professionalism in training for anti-racism and allyship. Prior to her time at Zucker, she served as program director for the categorical internal medicine residency program at NYU, while also serving as a faculty member at the Academy of Communication in Healthcare.
“I am both honored and thrilled to accept the role of senior associate dean for education at the Frank H. Netter MD School of Medicine at Quinnipiac,” Pearlman said. “From my first contact with the school, I have been captivated by its mission to engage with the community, contribute to and diversify the primary care workforce, and provide innovative and supportive training to the next generation of physicians. During my visit to campus, I was inspired by all the students, faculty and staff that I met. I truly felt that I had found ‘my people.’ I am excited to continue to support the tremendous trajectory of the school and its residency programs by bringing my decades of experience across the medical education continuum as well as my expertise in relationship-centered communication and leadership.”
