One of the most beautiful views any university has to offer is Sleeping Giant State Park. Located directly across from Quinnipiac, the Sleeping Giant is not only an amazing place for a hike — touting more than 32 miles of trails — but the best subject for a gorgeous snow day photo op. From any residence hall on the Mount Carmel Campus, building and sidewalk, you can see it blanketed in snow.
Without a doubt, on every snow day, you can find a snow creation. I say creation because the types of snowmen seen on campus aren’t always stereotypical snowmen. These creations can range anywhere from snow towers to snowmen with strangely realistic torsos and arms, even a once-attempted snow bobcat.
After Zoom classes, head over to the fireplace in either the Carl Hansen Student Center or Rocky Top Student Center. There, students can relax by the warm fire, chat with friends and take a break from their laptops.
One of the many perks of Quinnipiac is the on-campus Starbucks. Just a quick walk from your residence hall, the hot coffee, hot cocoa, or tea are a perfect pick-me-up on a cold snow day.
When classes are canceled and you want to get your steps in, RecWell is the best place to be. With the wall of windows inside, watching snow fall while a good run/walk sounds like the perfect day. The fitness centers on the York Hill and North Haven campuses are also excellent choices.
