There are numerous programs offered to high school students, including computing and data sciences; business, entrepreneurship and innovation; fundamentals of data analysis and Microsoft Excel; game design and eSports; introduction to cybersecurity; the Healthcare Career Exploration Academy; introduction to photography; modern storytelling; medical microbiology pre-med preparation; sports entertainment; and journalism and the art of podcasting.
High school students who attend summer programs have the opportunity to explore topics of interest at the college level, build a portfolio of work within a field of interest and connect with Quinnipiac faculty, staff and other students.
High school junior Norah Araujo explored digital photography during her summer program experience as she plans on majoring in photography when she attends college.
“I had such an amazing experience in the QU Summer Program,” said Araujo. “Everyone was so kind and welcoming. I was able to bond with so many different people, even those from other courses outside of the one I was taking. It was truly a special experience I will never forget.”
In addition to learning new skills and techniques, Araujo said the program gave her a sneak peek into what her life could be like in a couple years.
“It really helped me get an idea of what college is like. It also helped me decide if photography is what I want to pursue,” she said. “It really is an awesome experience. The atmosphere felt safe, welcoming, and positive.”
Programs are typically two weeks long and have overnight and day options for students to attend.
