As vice president of the Juvenile Urban Multicultural Program at Quinnipiac, Bivens helps organize events, communicates with external partners, and ensures the program’s mission remains the focus — to empower underrepresented youth through strong, educational mentorship.
His additional campus involvement includes the Management Student Council and the Society of Human Resource Management.
These organizations have reinforced Bivens’ values of community and support, offering him a powerful mix of leadership development, personal growth and real-world experience.
“This is a university that strives to create students who are going to make a lasting impact in their communities and beyond,” said Bivens. “Quinnipiac provides endless opportunities for growth, leadership and making meaningful connections.”
Outside of Quinnipiac, Bivens carries his dedication to service into New Haven.
As a former human resources coordinator at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater New Haven, Bivens gained meaningful experience in a role that combined his passion for youth education and human resource management.
“I worked on all the HR functions for the club and after hours, I would assist with their teen night programming geared toward keeping youth off the streets and giving them a safe place to relax and enjoy each other's company at night,” said Bivens.
He is also a leadership fellow in the Sawhney Leadership Program at Quinnipiac, where he supports fellow students as they prepare to enter the workforce through development workshops, campus engagement and a goal-oriented community network.
His time in the program has deepened his identity as a multicultural student leader and opened his eyes to his own leadership potential.
“Sawhney has been monumental in enhancing my leadership skills by giving me so many opportunities, hands-on leadership experience, has helped me with my communication and interpersonal skills,” said Bivens. “This fellowship reinforced my ability to lead different diverse teams, navigate different workplace dynamics, and learn to balance empathy with effective leadership.”
After graduation this May, Bivens will return to Quinnipiac to pursue a master’s degree in business administration.
