Ten international students joined five hosts this year, which is the largest the initiative has been since its inception.
Sarah Driscoll, director of international students and scholars, said she was excited for the experiences of both the students and hosts involved.
“We hope our faculty and staff, along with their families, enjoy the opportunity to connect with the incredible international students who are part of our Quinnipiac community” Driscoll said, “This program offers a unique chance to learn about diverse cultures and life experiences — right from the comfort of your own dining room table.”
The students said they were grateful for their hosts and for many of them, it was their first American Thanksgiving.
“This was my first Thanksgiving Day, and it was very heartfelt. We cooked together both Kenyan and American cuisine and shared a lot about one another," said Sharon Rotich, an MBA student from Kenya.
Bridget Dial, talent acquisition specialist, said she and her entire family enjoyed the day.
"Our family was thrilled to be matched with a student from Hungary, especially since my husband’s family has Hungarian roots” Dial said, “My children were fascinated to learn that Akos had never experienced Thanksgiving and were overjoyed to share our traditions — and some of our favorite dishes — with him.”
