EV charging station in use

Quinnipiac recently installed four state-of-the-art electric vehicle (EV) charging stations on its Mount Carmel Campus, making it easier for members of the university community and visitors to charge their electric vehicles.

Each station is equipped with two charging ports, allowing for simultaneous charging of up to eight vehicles.

The charging stations, located in the North parking lot in front of the Faculty Office Building, are accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week and are available for use by anyone who visits the campus.

The decision to install the EV charging stations aligns with Quinnipiac's commitment to sustainability, as highlighted in its Strategic Plan and Sustainability Report, said Martin Cashin, senior capital project manager.

“The demand for electric vehicle charging stations has grown significantly in recent years, and we received multiple requests from the Quinnipiac community to add charging stations to our campuses,” Cashin said. “We met with some members of our community who own electric vehicles to gather their input on the design of the new charging stations. The addition of these four EV charging stations, which can charge eight vehicles at a time, demonstrates our commitment to sustainability and meeting the needs of our community.”

Quinnipiac partnered with ChargePoint on the project. Users pay an hourly rate and a valid parking permit or visitor permit is required.
