The “DelightFul week-long celebration” kicks off on Tuesday, February 11 — and includes hands-on experiences and special menu items.
"While dining at Quinnipiac may seem like just one part of the student experience, it plays a powerful role in fostering community and connection," said Norbert Ponte, resident district manager. "Through our week-long DelightFul event, we’re making a meaningful impact that extends beyond the dining hall. By completing acts of kindness throughout the week, students not only engage with their peers but also give back to the Quinnipiac community in a way that’s both personal and impactful. It’s the perfect opportunity for anyone looking to get involved and make a difference."
On Tuesday, February 11, there will be a “DelightFul themed lunch menu” at the Mount Carmel Dining Hall, featuring a Grecian grain bowl with lemon chicken and cilantro pesto tofu.
The dining hall will offer a Celsius promotion where students will buy one item and share one item as an act of kindness, receive a raffle ticket and enter a student organization to win an exclusive ice cream social for their respective organization.
On Wednesday, February 12, there will be a “DelightFul teaching kitchen” featuring Quinnipiac Dining Chef Marc Perez. He will teach students how to create and plate dessert charcuterie boards and demoing how to make chocolate ganache and apple butter.
On Thursday, February 13, students will be encouraged to recognize those who help them. In partnership with Fraternity and Sorority Life and the Student Government Association, lemon cookies will be distributed from 10 a.m. to noon on the Mount Carmel Campus. As students will be encouraged to write notes of appreciation to those who serve students, including but not limited to the Public Safety, Recreation and Wellness Center and Counseling offices.
On Friday, February 14, there will be kind notes written on hot beverage sleeves at the hot cocoa bar at the Mount Carmel Dining Hall.
"'DelightFul' is a nationwide event designed to celebrate, carry out, and encourage random acts of kindness across the country," said Lexi Pepe, unit marketing manager. "Throughout the week, Quinnipiac's associates, students, and staff will collectively carry out 1,500 random acts of kindness, totaling at least 500,000 nationwide. We are building a culture of compassion, respect and empathy throughout our weeklong event. We can't wait to see all of the joy that is spread amongst the campus!"
Throughout the week, Quinnipiac Dining is partnering with The Random Acts of Kindness Foundation to turn its Mount Carmel Dining Hall into a certified Kindness Kitchen and contribute to the goal of 500,000 acts of Kindness.
