Jerram came to Quinnipiac as a 3+3 accelerated dual-degree student, but soon after transferred into the School of Business and decided on applied business due to her interest in project and event management.
Paring with her interests and major in business, Jerram ran for Student Government Association (SGA) during her first year, after hearing some of her peers talk about the benefits of joining.
SGA's mission is to improve the student experience and campus, and Jerram did just that.
"I brought laptop, phone, and tablet chargers to the Arnold Bernhard Library circulation desk so students who live off of the Mount Carmel Campus can easily find the charger they need when an electric device dies and I helped allow reusable cups in the Starbucks on campus," she said.
Jerram wishes she could continue her position within SGA throughout her graduate year.
“Having served on the First Year, Sophomore, and Junior Class Cabinets has been a lot of fun these past three years, and my graduate year is going to be bittersweet, as I can’t continue serving on the undergraduate Student Government Association,” said Jerram.
In addition to SGA, Jerram took Bobcat pride to another level participating in Pep Band playing a variety of instruments from flute to percussion to tenor saxophone.
Her role not only included performing, but also working behind the scenes serving three different roles on the Pep Band eboard.
“I served as community engagement chair, operations chair, and the social media coordinator. Each role took a different skillset and I was even an interim spirit lead my first year when there was a lot going on for our spirit lead,” said Jerram.
Spending her nights under the rink lights was something she looked forward to throughout her time at Quinnipiac.
“I can’t think of anywhere else I’d rather spend my Friday and Saturday nights than in the arena,” said Jerram. “Having the opportunity to travel to Atlantic City with the basketball teams as well as Tampa, Providence, Bridgeport, New Haven, Allentown and Lake Placid with the hockey teams has been an incredible experience as well, and I’m so glad that I can continue in my graduate year,” she said.
Additionally, Jerram served as the assistant director for the jazz band.
“I taught myself the tenor saxophone at the beginning of my sophomore year because pep band’s previous two tenors had graduated, but coming from a classical instrument, the flute, the jazz band sounded terrifying,” she said.
Exploring jazz music challenged Jerram to learn music in a different way than before, and she proved this by composing solos for herself and others this past year.
Jerram impressively, along with all of her other endeavors, balanced working as a student employee at the Office of Marketing and Communications.
“I’ve gotten to see another side of this university through MarCom and that’s something I wouldn’t change for the world,” she said.
While working at the Office of Marketing and Communications, Jerram put her writing talents to use and had the opportunity to write about a plethora of important and fascinating figures.
“I’ve interviewed people ranging from an alumna on the Forbes’ 30 under 30 list to graduating members of SGA who served as my mentors and I learn something new with every article I write,” she said.
“Working with Jamie DeLoma has also been incredibly educational, considering he’s a walking encyclopedia of Quinnipiac history. I couldn’t imagine a better boss," Jerram added.
Reflecting on her past three years as a Bobcat, Jerram has many memories that she will value for years to come including traveling to Tampa for the Frozen Four as a member of the Pep Band.
“It was so much fun to not only be in such an electric environment but also be a part of bringing that experience to the rest of the band. We were surrounded by fans who chanted the Minnesota fight song so loud it echoed, and here was our band in our bright yellow and blue uniforms,” she said.
After completing her MBA next year at Quinnipiac, Jerram plans to enter the event management space focusing on behind-the-scenes operations at an arena for sporting events and concerts.
“Where that may be, I don’t know, but I plan to stay in New England,” Jerram said.
