This unique opportunity will create a space for remaining international students on campus to connect with Quinnipiac faculty and staff outside of the classroom.
“Many international students have never experienced a traditional American Thanksgiving first-hand so the Thanksgiving host program will give them the opportunity to learn more about this holiday and connect on a more personal level with a faculty or staff and their family,” said Sarah Driscoll, director of international student services. “The Department of Cultural and Global Engagement will also offer other programming during Thanksgiving break for students remaining on campus. The programming will include trips to grocery stores, a game night and local excursions.”
Driscoll expects more than two dozen students, both domestic and international, to attend the Thanksgiving festivities.
“We are excited to offer this program again after a pause during the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Driscoll. “My favorite thing about the program is the opportunity for intercultural exchange and learning. Both student and host participants get to share their cultures and learn from each other while enjoying a Thanksgiving meal and celebration of gratitude."
By being a host in the Thanksgiving host program, faculty and staff members will play an active role in helping our international community feel welcomed as Bobcats during the holiday season, said Driscoll.
Students, faculty and staff can sign-up through November 10.
